A Diary of a Portrait VI

Sheila portrait 6 detail

During our sixth session I worked over most of the surface of the canvas, layering the paint where it had sunk and become dull while continuing to revise and correct the drawing. The paint being applied is now thicker and much more buttery in consistency and you can see in the image above how refinements in the drawing are made using mixed colour.

At this stage we have another sitting planned, perhaps this will be the last, but I have a feeling there may be just one more.
